It’s looking like the perch bite might be about over for me this year but I made a valiant effort today. The water level is still good and there’s lots of fish but the algae is starting to form now and it won’t be any good again till it freezes over for the winter. December some time.
I caught 11 perch with only two keepers. No bullheads today👌. We can keep any size and there’s no limit on them but I set a personal limit of 14” now and everything smaller goes back if they’re not harmed reeling them in. I got one 14 incher and one 14 and 1/2”. Got some good fillets and practiced my selfie taking. Just a little late is all🥴.
Turned out these things look WAY bigger AFTER you fillet em😆😆. Sorry guys.
Just enough for some fish tacos for dinner tomorrow. Got em soaking in sea salt water as we speak👍😋

Now it’s a 28 incher 😆

At least you got a couple Randy. 28 inches, that's funny, I'll have to remember that one. Thanks for sharing buddy.

I’m assuming those are white perch, nice looking fillets buddy. Also like that line about a 28 incher, like Fred… I’ll be using that in the future.

Nice perch and quite an effort on your part toward conservation! To be honest, I would have a tough time throwing back those “12 inchers”with decent filets in them…they are yummy!

You did good again Randy! Enjoy the tacos! Catfish are among the top favorites of my fish to eat. Sorry the algae is growing up now. There is always ice fishing. Take care buddy and tight lines. A few minor setbacks is not going to allow us to go up after salmon this year - always next year.

They’re called “Pricilla” perch. Jumbo yellow perch. I fillet a lot of fish. Probably a couple hundred perch a year between me and everybody I know that fishes for them. Lots of salmon and steelhead at the meat shop too. I’m the meat cutter/fish processor there. It’s really hard to beat fresh perch for me. I’ll take it over halibut, salmon, steelhead or any fish I’ve ever caught out of the ocean. Sturgeon runs a close second but it’s not easy to catch and keep white sturgeon any more. It’s catch and release only for white sturgeon here in Idaho and we have a BUNCH of them in the Big Salmon and Snake Rivers.
Feel free to use my, photographic, tricks. Makes ya look like the man!😂😂😂

Thanks Hunt. My preference is perch but I love blackened catfish for sure. That’s what I do with all of my cats. I tried smoking some catfish once and I didn’t care much for it.
