The weather finally broke to cloudy morning and much lower Temps. I went ant spent 8 bucks on a new lip less crank bait sexy shad with a rainbow sheen. I made about 7 casts on the alabama jerk and hooked onto a ....ROCK! Dang it! 30# braid and no relief. Tried evert trick I know to get it loose but the line snapped! I was so close to swearing! I turned around and stepped...went down with a thud! Scraped my shin bad and lost the lure! REALLY!?

Wait till you fish with a drunk in a small flat bottom. Lost 90% of my gear when he capsized the boat. Treble hook in one arm. Yeah it was not a good day 👍🤬😂

And yet SO many fishermen say, " A bad day of fishin is better than a good day at work."
Personally, I don't say that. I've had some REALLY bad days fishin. AND I've had some really good days at work.
I use to be a casino dealer workin for my own tips.

I think everyone’s been there, me on the other hand would have been swearing.
Been there, done that! I have dropped them over the side, had them break off and keep sailing into the distance during the cast, but the most “painful “ loss of a lure happened when I drifted into a beautiful stretch of trout water in a Jon boat, was reaching for my rod with a Mepps spinner tied on and as I was securing the oars, I hit a rock which caused the oar to fall onto my rod…causing the lure to break off and swing into the air and with a gentle splash, sink gently to the bottom. I must have been 13 or 14 and only brought ONE lure 🤦🏼♂️
That may have been the start of my obsession to bring more stuff than I could possibly lose without capsizing…
1 for fishing
1 for the tree
1 for the lily pads
1 for the submerged log, rock, etc
I tend to be aggressive in spots I shouldn’t be, whether golfing or fishing.
It got better (mentally) once I adopted the mindset that I didn’t “own” that lure or golf ball…I was merely renting it. 😂
Better luck next time!

reminds me of a trip I hd last year. For some reason I thought I'd not take the boat and fish from the bank. got out of the car and put the keys in what I thought was a secure velcro pocket, walked over a jumble of rocks to get to my fishing hole. NOTHING bit except mosquitoes so I got up and fell across the rocks banging my shin. struggled back across the rocks just to find the pocket I thought was so secure had a hole in it and my keys were gone. spent a couple hours searching through the rocks with no luck. Had to call my Sister in law to come get me take me home to get the other set of keys finally went back and got the car. spent the rest of the day mending my wounds and the hole in my jacket pocket.

Neither have I - that’s my story and I’m sticking to it - don’t care if you do have the pictures. And it was still a fun day.

Mike,
All it took was one truck key dropped off a pier to teach me to always carry a spare.....

1) lipless cranks ain’t made for fishing around rocks.
2) what’s an Alabama jerk ?
3) I probably would have sweared , especially if I would have scraped my shin .
