I don't know what causes it but every now and then I get a film on one of my kisses stores in tackle boxes. Particularly arbugast baits such as jitterbugs and sputterfuss. Some times Heddon baits like zara spooks and dying flutters. I use an electric toothbrush and crest toothpaste to remove it. I also use tooth paste to clear the yellow film off my truck head lights. Works well.

I've never seen that on any of mine, and I have some 30yrs old. It must be coming from something else in your box Segundo. I know some of the soft plastics react with other types of plastic. Especially the Elaztech ones.

I have seen that as well, but never occurred to me to use Crest and a toothbrush. I presumed it was oxidation In a closed, humid space. Funny that it happened to my Arbogast Jitterbugs, too. Perhaps their choice of finish differs than other manufacturers?

I've seen it before too, probably could be dried foamy stuff floating on the water? or fine sand that adheres to the lures possible. I also have seen lure candy like pork rind and jelly worm's surgery content leave a powder film if it dries out.

Crest is good to remove the yellow hugh in automotive lenses all so. It'll bring them back to bright .

I keep those desiccant packs from many products including medications and put them in my tackle boxes to absorb moisture so I don't have any problems like that, also no rust.

If it's the same thing I have seen, it is similar to the haze you're supposed to let form when you are waxing a car or boat or other such thing. The one you are supposed to allow to basically dry before removing with the "wax-off"(Karate Kid reference) motion.

I see it on mostly older, early plastic constructed lures that have been sitting for some time without being used. I wondered if it was like a limescale residue from being put away wet after being used in hard water environments, or like the soap scum coating that can appear on shower doors & tile, but have no real idea what causes it. I have removed it by scraping it away with a fingernail but sometimes it is so reluctant to come off I've gone to using a razor blade or some other sharp knife edged item to scrape it off. Could it be the finish or final layer or coat of varnish used back in the day that is just now beginning to break down and deteriorate? Does dark moist storage in an old metal tackle box encourage it? Something I've wanted to know about for years but never thought to look too far into it, I guess.

I also like to repurpose these little packages of dessicant in a variety of places, especially with tackle storage.

Good idea to mention...thanks for the reminder.

believe it or not try Off insect spray or off lotion amazing that works in your headlights I think the white film on the lures happens because of the clear coat they use but I might be wrong I'd try putting another clear coat on them and that might help πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Yes and you can put them in the microwave for a few seconds and use them over and over again πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Next time you have to clean them , spray some furnature wax and polish on them before you put them back in the box !
