Taking a "first time fisherman" (13 yrs old) to Big Canoe over the Labor Day holiday.
Any suggestions on where to fish and what to throw?
Name of the game let him catch some fish. I would get some red wrigglers and go after some bream. You might catch a bass or maybe a trout. Fish the banks around any blowdowns. Used to fish that area years ago just go out and have a good time

You have plenty of time before then. Keep checking in a lot of fresh water fishers on here.
Ultra light tackle with beatle spins. Works for a variety of fish. Plastic worm for bass fishing . Earth worms for live bait on panfish. A light pole and fly for pitch poleing rivers. It's summer time so fish the shades areas.
Fish outside edges of weeds and near cover (wood, stumps, piers or rocks).
Good luck!
Your community is about a hour north of Atlanta from what I found out a gated community with a golf course. You are not far from Lake Altoona. I can't help you there it's one of the few lakes in Georgia I've not fished. Try GON magazine. Local tackle shops. Fly fishing clubs
