Does anyone ever use the anti reverse on a spinning reel?? I never do just use my drag system.
I leave mine on when in the rod holder. I like the ability to back reel, or adjust the drag when battling a big one, though, when I get one on an UL setup.

Just the drag here too. I'm not coordinated enough to back reel. The few times I've tried, I've overdone it and line gets under the rotor and gets nicked. Then you have to cut off the damaged line, and before long you need to refill the reel.
Mainly I use the drag. I set it by pressure. Testing it with my fingers tips as I gently turn the spool against the drag I don't pull the line as it buries it in the spool.

I use it as a last resort to protect the rod when I am overmatched. I adjust the drag and use the rod to tire the fish. If that is not enough, I resort to back-reeling when the line or the rod are at risk. It has helped on quite a few occasions.
I have always used it, unless I needed to let out a little line. If more needed then I open the bail. I do adjust the drag when needed. I have just started using "Bait Runners" and they are nice!
