Just love it when last minute changes leads you to an awesome day. Was planning on fishing the river, but when I arrived they had access block due to all the flooding. So, went to nearest small lake.
Well, it was just a great day. Caught approx 25 nice fish (for up here) all ranged from 2-4 lbs. Morning bite was all nice largemouth. Flipping docks with the “General” max scent. Most fish came out from underneath in about 1 ft of water. Water was crystal clear and just super fun watching them bull dog in an attempt to get back underneath.
Couple hours later, went looking for smallmouth. Lots of nice fish just cruising the shoreline, again in crystal clear water. Most fish came on the drop shot throwing the max scent flatworm.
Then started to come across a lot of smallmouth beds holding fish. Throwing everything on those beds just got ignored. But landing a bright pink senko into that bed got destroyed. They wanted no part of that ugly pink laying in their beds.
Today was literally like the first real day of summer, hitting 80 degrees with water at 65. Also caught a few nice pike too. Just one of those days having too much fun swinging on nice fish, as I just didn’t think to take any pics for you all to enjoy. So this was the only pic I took. Forget the old guy, just look at this fat fish. All fish released to fight again. Tight lines to all.
