I wish I knew. I have a buddy that just moved up to Blanchard from Oregon and I’d sure like to get up there and try it. Good luck and let us know if anybody shares anything. 🎣🎣

I spent a week their this spring. It was cold. We only caught one lake trout between us and no other bites fishing for trout, kokanee perch and bass. The previous late fall, we got kokanee, a few small mouth and two lake trout. We threw two bull trout back. That is a pretty weak showing for two full hard weeks of fishing. We are going again in September this year for another week. It should be a lot warmer. If the fishing sucks then, we will be writing that lake off. There is a lot better fishing closer to home. I am not into spending a day trolling for trout with 10 rods out hoping to catch a big trout. I am spoiled. I caught two digit trout when guiding in Alaska wearing waders and using a fly rod. If you do want that big trout, Pend Oreille is a good place to go. If you do go, hire a guide. It is a big lake with lots of barren water.

Bapabear summed it up. I just got back from there a couple weeks ago. Weather was still snotty but got out on the big lake 3 times. Notta. One day we had 8 lines out with 3 of us. Trolled for 8 hours on planer boards, banana weights, down riggers, up down and in between and not 1 hit. Saw a Kokanee alongside the boat about 5' deep. He looked up at us and just shook his head. I have family there in Sagle and Sandpoint so I have lodging and visits which are nice. We did catch trout on Cocolalla Lake near Sagle which is usually our plan "B" when we get blown off the big lake. I would highly recommend a guide to figure it out but my brother in law says their kinda secretive about the riggings and setup which is rather BS. After 3 consecutive years of dragging my boat over 3 times a year and striking out on the big Gerrard rainbows I'm throwing in the towel. Theres way too much productive water way closer to learn and explore. My last trip- $400 fuel, $150 non res license and invasive specie sticker, $250 for new tire/rim destroyed on trailer tire blowout in downpour on the pass coming home. I didn't flunk economics in school, some of it stuck.
I caught a 28+ pound King earlier this year. I'm good with Neah, Westport, Buoy 10 for big fish.
I wish you the best of luck out there. It is a beautiful lake and if you figure it out I'd love to hear.

Thanks for the response. Love fishing the ocean for big fish... but we live here...lol... Went out yesterday beautiful trip. But the only thing we got was a 6" kokanee, he was laughing all the way in, as he knew we'd let him go. Price of gas makes it tough to keep searching. Spoke with a long time resident showed us alot if photos of big camaloops, mostly caught in October, seemed like.

We have Kamaloops here in cascade lake too but they’re monsters like those up there. We catch em on a double hook set up around 8 to 10 feet off the bottom from the bank in 35 feet of water early morning and early evening. I use a 2 Oz weight above the bait and just use a leader long enough to reach up from the bottom to the fish. Air up the worm or put a floater on it. That’s what the marshmallows are for. Trolling we drag a chartreuse and red crankbait at 2.3 mph and that puts our crank bait down about 10 feet in the water behind the boat. We catch WAY more trolling than we do from the bank and for a longer period of time during the day.
Sorry if you’ve seen the pictures already but that’s what we catch, what we use and how we use it. The green thing on the bottom is a rubber powerbait garlic ball to keep the crawler on the hook set up. One rubber ball lasts for days.

You’re welcome. I meant to say last time our Kamaloops “aren’t” monsters like they have in ponderay. Typo. Big ones here are 8 pounds but still nice fish.
