Today is the 78th anniversary of D-day. My utmost respect and gratitude goes out to all of those who served and especially those who never made it home. May God bless you all. ππππΊπΈπΊπΈπΊπΈ

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Four.
Four thanks for sharing. God bless all those that made it home but especially those that didnβt. My uncle wasnβt in the D Day battle but was torpedoed and went down in the Atlantic somewhere close to Europe. God bless his soul.
May we never forget the sacrifices made by those brave souls!

As I've said before, a debt that can never be repaid. Live free and v**e. That's the best we can do.
My Wife's uncle went ashore on D-day, I don't remember which beach. He wouldn't talk much about it.
We owe not only the troops who went ashore, but the paper pushers, clerks, cooks and so on who filled necessary positions, freeing up others to go. We owe all of them a debt we can't repay, we can only honor them by preserving the freedom that they purchased.
The old soldiers of WWII are almost gone. I wonder if they will ever get the respect they deserve. I remember when the last WWI vet died and they wouldn't let him lie in the white house. That was just a few years ago in the Obama administration. I wonder the fate of the last WWII and last Korea veterans or the last Vietnam veterans. God bless them all for their service and sacrifice.
I don't remember that and I couldn't find any information on it. Are you sure? I did find this article on Woody Buckles. Seems to me he was treated very respectfully by both the Bush's and the Obabma's. Neither one allowed him to spend the night.
First month of Obama's term the white house refused to let the last WWI vet lie in state in the white house before his funeral
Please direct me to a news article or something that references that?
