I came across an add for Deeper Pro castable fishfinder. Seems there's a whole series of them. Do any of you have experience with these. Are they worth the money (a lot for me), or just bait for fishermen??

I think they could help someone that doesn’t have a fish Finder on a boat. They can help a person see what’s happening on a pond or lake out in front of them too. Usually you need a smartphone and be good at operating a smart ( or stupid) phone as the video screen.

Here is the hard part Marion ( great question By the way my friend).

You have to cast or throw it to where you want to use sonar to see the fish.. bottom… etc. a lead anchor would keep it wherever you get it to. You need another rod and heavy line to retrieve it and the line and anchor line will be where your trying to fish.

If you could use it to see an area before you cast about to and fish it is probably a great device.

I almost purchased one. There is all sorts of them. I liked the huge bobber looking type.

I have a really nice fish Finder on NoHurry ( the boat) now anyway though.

I used to have one and I liked it. It let me see where the crappie were in my cove and what depth. Tons of time saved hunting them.

I have a Lowrance FishHunter I believe it was $120. It is a pretty cool device. Really easy to use as far as connecting with a phone or tablet. I got mine before I had my boat and it is nice to have for bank fishing. It lets you see the contours and structure where your fishing. Also marks fish but not really sure of it’s accuracy. As Jeremy said the largest issue with it I had was casting. It’s 8 oz plus you need a big heavy rod with strong line!! I would attach mine to a rope and throw it at first. That didn’t work very well. I plan to use mine ice fishing in the next week. I’ve heard good things about using them for that.

Maid Marion: It may surprise you, but almost everything in a tackle store is to 'catch the fisherman'! It is our job to be very selective in choosing just those items we have to have to do our job. I don't mean to be cynical, but 'speak without forked tongue!' Just Sayin...RJS

Not much surprises me many more, RJS. It doesn't need a 50$ lure.to do a worm's job, but they are fun and efficient.

Gmon Miss Marion. Nobody needs a $10 cup of coffee when a 25 cent kcup is just as good but they do it anyway 😂😂. Humans are strange critters. We bitch about the price vof things we need then spend a ridiculous amount on things we don't need. Perfect example price of gas $5 a gal wow $5 plus for Starbucks darn that's good 🥴. No I don't do Starbucks . Have a nice stay safe 🤗🤗

It's been that why for a long time Marion. Always money for toys. I'm glad I waited to buy mine till I could afford them. I absolutely hate unnecessary debt. Enough of it we have to deal with without creating more. Learned that from my pap. My parents never had anything because of crazy spending. Stay safe n I'm glad you're riding the stage with us. 😊😊

From a kayak on a bracket Deeper sells: Best thing is that you can map the bottom and find drop-offs, thanks, Old Road beds, Etc. You can mark their location using your phone. I strongly advise a flexible holder for your phone. As for finding fish I am uncertain. It certainly does Show You cover on the bottom, and balls of bait fish. For me there is the problem running over the alleged fish and then turning the kayak around to fish that spot. At times I have marked spots with a Bowie. Surplus and chirp models to the mapping with your phone, and you can save the maps. For me it is too expensive cast, the line break, and have this thing fly 2 Fuquay Varina. Oh! I might have brand new one of the Plus model somewhere in the garage. DM me and I will look for it.

For now Im gathering info. My creek is 100yd from house and I know its like the back of my hands.. Would only need of device if I get access to larger water. Interestingly found add for finder at Harbor Freight for under 40$ that might be all I would need ???🙃😒
