Hello! My Wife and I just moved to Indianapolis from Ontario California in July of 2021. Now that we are somewhat settled I would like I used to fish both ocean and fresh water. I would now like to start fishing here in Indy. Does anyone have any advice?

Sorry Rug, not familiar with your area but I think there’s some members that will. Welcome, fun place and some good info.

I would miss the ocean. I am Salt and Freshwater Fisherman as well. You will find some good fishing. Hopefully you can do some Ice Fishing and other fishing there. Good Luck on your quest. Welcome to the Forum, Rug, Well, you don't have any salt nearby so I don't think you need to be concerned about that. You are in a decent freshwater area, and it would be best if you could find a fisherman living close to you that would point you in the right direction. We may have 1 or 2 members on this Forum that may respond, but I can't remember for sure or not. If we do have them, they are not very regular. Good luck.
Welcome to Indy! Locally Eagle Creek Reservoir is pretty good. You can buy an annual pass to the park that will allow you access to the boats ramps. I also like to wade Eagle creek that feeds the reservoir I catch small mouth, white bass, and sun fish in the creek. It is also stocked with rainbow each spring. Also, just a short drive north of Indy you can fish white river and the small fishing is pretty good. I know some people like to fish Geist Reservoir but it’s nearly impossible to fine a spot to bank fish and the ramp fees are excessive in my opinion. If you are willing to drive and have a boat I would recommend Monroe Reservoir, Brookville Reservoir and Turtle Creek in Sullivan county. Good luck and tight lines
you have patoka lake and monroe resevoir just south of indy
If you get up my way (Peru), we have Mississinewa and Salamonie Lakes both are excellent crappie fishing. They are also good for bass, walleye and catfish. Good luck fishing here in the Hoosier.
