I had them on my boat for a year, but took them off, because I could not get them to work correctly.
It finally broke, and the owner did not offer much help or replacement

Never used them to launch the boat, only to put it on the trailer.

I have seen similar latches OJ, I think BPS used to sell one. Should work good if you drive on and off the trailer. Unfortunately my little 25hp won't push or pull the boat on or off the trailer. Also doesn't have power trim and tilt, so driving on and off wouldn't work if I could. Some ramps don't allow doing it either, due to erosion at the end of the paved ramp. Some people don't trim their motor up enough, and blow out all the dirt after the pavement. Bantam Lake is like that, a 2ft drop at the end of the ramp. Since the water level varies a lot, it makes launching and retrieval an adventure.

If I take my 14 ft grizzley out by myself I have to get wet either loading or unloading. Some ramps don't have a nearby dock so I get wet both ways. I've installed a good ladder to the front of the trailer so it's much easier to get in & out of the boat. I've also installed longer
guideon's for easier loading. I would definitely spring for something that would keep me dry. I'm lucky as my 25 hp yahama will put the boat on or off the trailer. My big boat is basically the same way when loading. If I'm alone I get wet.

I have a Drotto and ABSOLUTELY love it. I will never have a boat without it. You do need to learn how to use it, but once learned it is really easy. Lining up is as simple as picking a spot one your truck that lines up with the trailer and aiming for it. Perfect hookup every time.

You still need to use the safety chain and winch strap and tie downs in back. Those are always required for safe trailering.

This has made launching and loading extremely easy and almost always totally dry on the feet.

BTW, I have a bunk trailer.

One exception to the drotto would be places where they do not allow power loading. It would be hard without power.

Just watched the install video,I'm definitely gonna have to get one of these for my Duraboat. Not having to balance on the trailer tongue to hook and unhook is worth the couple hundred bucks.

I have an auto latch. He turned 11 recently. He looks forward to getting wet, even in the cold sound.

I have a good fishing buddy, that has 5 boats and he has two of his trailers with them on. He likes them, but he can't spend all of his money. I have never asked him what they cost, but he said that they are the "clear deal".

$299.00

Fished with a guy that had one ( I Don't know what brand), worked great probably 90% of the time, sometimes the angle of the ramp would cause the latch to not line up properly. Really wasn't a problem, you just had to winch the boat up the last few inches, But most ramps were no problem....

What really helps is side bunks,my trailer had em on already, I just adjusted them to center the boat perfectly.

I have one on my boat. I like it, but once you put it on you will have to make some adjustments to it. Look on you tube and it will show you everything you need to know. Hope this helps.

Sorry all, I suck at attaching links. The one I am referring to is the Drotto catch and release unit. I believe there are similar units out there. I will keep tryingโ€ฆ

I've seen an add for them but never actually seen one nor do I know anyone who has.
