Thanks Ben, for sharing your favorite techniques with all of us. Now all I have to do is remember, when I'm in certain conditions, to try the proper technique FOR those conditions. My usual is when I'm back home, putting the day's lures away, and yell at myself, YOU SHOULDA TRIED THIS or THAT DUMMY!!!!!

Yeah, Buddy! I can launch the boat, get to the spot and remember the lures I planned to use that day…still sitting on the table where I left them. I blame the excitement of trying to sneak out without waking anyone 🤦🏼‍♂️

For a starting attack, I always preload my rods the night before. I look at my map and decide what depths and locations I want to fish. But when I get there, very often there are unexpected changes which mess up the game plan. Sometimes its weather, or unpredicted wind blowing the wrong way, or a bunch of tournament fishermen working the same areas I planned on fishing. What I should do is stop and figure out different locations to follow my original plan, which was a sound plan for that time of year. Unfortunately what I usually do is hit previously good spots, with basic offerings like a Stick worm, or a Fluke . I catch a few, but never the windfall I had hoped for. Hopefully this year I'll be able to stick with my original plan, since I'll have more weekdays to fish and can be more selective as far as weather goes.

Fred, I do the same thing and then end up in places where I have had luck in the past. I start catching a few and end up not trying new places. Bad habit that I need to break

I agree thanks for all the info. Most of my fishing before I retired was what I call lazy man fishing. That is bank fishing staring at a bobber. Since I have retired I have bought a kayak and waders and have explored many new fishing techniques. I greatly appreciate people like Ben and others here that are willing to share their knowledge. Because of all of you I have become a much better fisherman Still much to learn as with most things you never stop learning

It would be nice to preplan and pre rig. The weather here thumbs it 's nose at the forecast. I often plan a trip out on the sound and spend the day fishing a pond or trolling a lake for kokanee. It would be a lot easier if bass did not respond so different every day to the same tackle. I could go from a duffle bag size tackle box to one the size of a toaster if it wasn't for those darn bass.

Thanks. I think I’m on the mend.
It’s winter here. Decided to share some tricks I’ve learned along the way.
Don’t always work . If they did , they would name rods and lures after me and my picture would be all over bass pro shop catalog.
I’ll try to share some more tips. Sometimes I just stumble on something. Sometimes it’s lots and lots of refinement.
And just when you think you have it down , the fish change their mind.
Stupid fish!!!
My main hang up is when something I know should work and it’s not, I’m slow to react.
