I fish for anything a can ,I love game fish,I do alot of cat fishing too,I have been in ponds ,creeks, rivers, lakes and of course the ocean.i have trout fished in a stocked pond but never in these cold mountain streams. Good mornin', John, welcome to the Forum. Stream fishing is most successful if you have waders and walk in the center of the stream and fish upstream. You have to be able to read the flow of the stream and fish the seams of the riffle. It's too much work for the fish to fight the riffle so they will be in the seams, or behind a rock, or in the eddys. Let the bait/fly/spinner flow downstream as it naturally would. Good luck!.

fished here almost my entire life the farther you get from the roads the better the fishing but even the streams beside a roads have fish wade or travel upstream cast upstream and retreive back to you a little faster than the current if you are spin fishing a rooster tail single hook will usually doe the trick 1/8 ounce i like coachdog and black with a silver blade and any small jig works good in the winter good luck and enjoy our beautiful mountains

Welcome to the stage John. My wife is from Hendersonville and I have played around intbr French Broad River some. Out Hwy 64 there is a place that raises Brown and Rainbow Trout and I think they stock the Creeks and rivers. It's somewhere around Pisgah Forrest or might be in the park. Maybe Loneeagle can help you out on that one.
