I live in Cortez. The other side of the mountain but start with Colorado Parks and wildlife. They are a great help. Then hang out in a sporting goods store a couple of times and talk to folks. Great way to start a new area.

Some of the lakes around here are reported to have crappie but I have never caught but one. Welcome to the forum by the way. One small lake here apparently had a huge die off of crappie last year as a result of winter kill after the drought. Prolly need a boat. There are mass quantities of yellow perch (no limit) northerns, smallmouth bass, a couple of good walleye lakes, and trout.

So nothing in Southern Colorado that you know of. What lakes are the yellow perch found at? Anything down here in Southern Colorado. I'm in a Walker so traveling is hard to do but I'm willing to try.

I wish I could help you sir but I am clear on the other end of the state. My best advice would be to contact Parks and Wildlife or a local license vendor/sporting goods store or both. The fish and game people are always a good help for information. Best wishes, let me know what you learn. God bless....

I fished for trout in Montrose Co. Can’t remember the name of the lake but I fished it for 3 months probably 4 days a week in them 3 months. I swear to you I caught at least 15 trout every time I went there.
