Hello everyone. I am not new to fishing but I am to boating as I recently purchased my first boat this past May of ‘21. I found a 1984 Grumman 12’ on Offer Up for $425 which came with a trailer and a 1954 Johnson Seahorse 5.5 hp, and it runs like a top. I put a little over 3 months work into her (sand, seal and new paint) and another trailer which was in far better shape and got both registered. Been out 4 times so far and love it. I decided to get the boat for the obvious reasons because of course you can go anywhere on a lake and fish plus I was tired of renting as that is a waste of money. This is my “me time” and do it for pure enjoyment and relaxation although I really miss fishing with my son who is married and serving in the Air Force. He was my fishing buddy. I live in Santee, CA and fish only fresh water so the local reservoirs are my stomping grounds but am looking to spread my wings and try others throughout the southwest region. My target fish are primarily bass and panfish but I am game for most any others except catfish as I have grown tired of them and no one at my house except me will eat them. I do like keeping my catch because I love bass and panfish. My primary baits I like to use are live, shiners and night crawlers but also dabble with Senkos and other bass lures, but only just started using those and have had success with the Green Pumpkin 5” Senko mostly. I am looking forward to hearing from others here and learning what I can and discovering new places and ways to fish. Maybe I can even share some of mine.

Welcome and congrats on your boat acquisition, with kudos for the redux..... looking sweet !
I am a big fan of what you have there, as I love both small boats, and giving second-life to a boat/motor that many would not consider because of it's age or size. I have restored and customized a Livingston 12' that's a year newer ('85) than your boat and would love to have had that vintage motor included, but alas, I had to buy one.
Sorry to hear that your family doesn't appreciate your catfish.... some folks just don't know what's good for 'em ......lol !
Hopefully you are getting some of this rain down there, as are we up north of you, so we'll at least have something to launch our boats INTO... been a rough couple or three years. Good luck out there, be safe, and enjoy that boat !

Good lookin rig. Try keeping a diary of conditions water temp barometer reading weather where u fished at what you used what you caught so later you can refer back see what worked and what didn’t work. It will help you get dialed in. Good luck tight line

Thank you. Turned out better than I could hoped. YouTube University has done wonders for me learning the best way to restore and turn this boat back into a bonafide fishing vessel again. Even my wife had doubts but not anymore.

Welcome to the Stage Froggy, and very nice job on the restoration. I too own an '80s tin boat, but aside from a 10yr rest, mine has been working and morphing from a Bay Skiff, to a baby Bass Boat. Where do you fish? If you put your general location in your profile, people won't have to ask every time you post.
