A semi hit this monster. Two guys were trying to load him in their truck with a State Patrol officer blocking traffic. I thought they hit it, so I stopped. Ended up helping them load it in there truck. Had them follow me home, where I helped them skin and bone it out. Weighed near 850#

Glad they let someone salvage it. We can do that here in Idaho too. Just pick it up and use it. No permits required or anything. It’s nice to see places allow that👍

Glad it was salvaged. Idaho started the trend. I have done few deer here in Oregon. Just have to report to the state like all states that allow it to get permit. Since CV we don’t have to turn in head / horns. It’s all electronic in Oregon now. Just go to a website and report.

Definately not a black tail deer. Unusual to hear of an elk road kill.

A lot of good eating there. Hopefully he got the chance to share his genes before he got hit, but that is probably why he got hit in the first place…chasing cows. At least he didn’t go to waste.
Our car kills can be taken after a call to the local authorities as well. There is a list available for those folks that would want a call to salvage a car kill. If they don’t answer or can’t get to it right away, the next person gets the call. Careful on the roads all, mating season is starting and the bucks and bulls only have one thing on their minds for about 2 weeks.

We can salvage deer here as long as we call and get a permit but not elk. The local game warden gathers up any elk hit and he decides who’s gonna get some

Picked up a big buck white tail once. Saw the deer get hit. Surprisingly, no damage to the car that hit it. Threw it in the trunk of my Chevelle. Dressed at about 200#, 10 pointer.
