Safe to eat?

I love fishing and during the warm months I get probably 3-5 times per week. My question is, how can I find out if a body of water is safe to eat the fish from?

I’m not sure but you might check with planning commission or local water department to see what water ways and bodies of water might have contamination, pesticides, mercury, leads and so on

That’s probably the best way
I always let my wife eat first. If she don’t croak I’ll dig in

I don't know where you are. In South Carolina, SCDNR website has a link ""State Fish Consumption". You can click on the body of water you're fishing and see what is safe or not. If that body of water is not listed, yhou can enter the address and it will tell you. Maybe check your states Dept. of Natural Resources or whatever it's called there.

Pennsylvania also has this information on the Fish and Boat website.

Also if you do eat fish eat panfish. the Predators have more mercury and posions in the from eating the other fish it builds up. Also eat smaller fish. just the warnings we get around here.pp

I always thought that was why a gentleman ALWAYS let the lady take the first bite. (Or to check the temperature)
