I purchased a Huminbird Piranahmax 4 locator to mount on my private boat dock. It has never identified fish when I was catching them right below the transducer so I contacted Humminbird multiple times for assistance. It shows the bottom fine, but I don't think it would detect a suspended anvil. I requested a return for the locator which seems to have a mind of its own. That's my only complaint against the product. I didn't expect much out of my low budget finder, but it didn't fulfill its promise.

If you're not moving, you won't get an arch type mark from a fish. You'll only get a straight line. If it has a "Flasher "mode, try that.

I was gonna say Hummingbird has a fish image you can turn on instead of the arch. I've found at times that it shows fish and my Garmin live scope doesn't see them. The Bird is off because the live scope will show a 1/16 oz crappie jig. I gotta say Garmin is a far better product and I've used Hummingbird for many years.

I have the same piranamax and it shows fish for me. The show up as a "goldfish cracker shape" and it also has a number next to the fish that tells you the depth its at. Either yours is messed up or not set right

Not sure if you are reading the fish correctly. I can stop my boat, and if the transducer is in the water, it will show fish. I have a Garmin, and as far as telling me what kind of fish it is, none of them that I know of, will do that. Now if you know what you are looking for, sometimes seeing the 'school' will tell you what you are looking at. Ex: bass school in horizontal displays, whereas sac a lait's school in vertical displays, and bottom feeders will be.......there you have it, easy.

I don't now that it has a "flasher". I do think it's an electronic malfunction as it ha a mind of it's own when I set the menu as I read the instructions.

I have been in contact with technical and marketing. Technical said to call them when i was at the locator and they would guide me though the setup process. Marketing said they would send me a replacement to try, but never followed through. Other responses have said it has to be me. Once I got real excited but learned it was in the simulated mode. It worked as marketed, but...
