Hi. I'm richardseewald. I have not had any experience fishing from the bank for walleye. Any tips for bait, lures, and how to catch them.

Went fishing this morning. Fishing from the river bank with three inch grey Senko on a 1/4 oz. jig head.. First cast was a walleye well in excess of five pounds. The next walleye was a bit larger. I only caught ten fish. This wasn't a very long trip. I like to use rubber baits worked slowly. I have caught many hundreds of walleye. Walleye in the river will take almost any bait. Minnow, worms, leaches. Just about anything that's alive will work. I normally start fishing at 04:45 am and I fish for two or three hours. Nigh time is great also. Have faith in yourself and try different techniques. Good luck.

Re. river bank fishing for walleyes. I and my 2 brothers were still- fishing for walleyes on the Red River of the North.
We had worms for bait, the sinker at the end of the line, the hook a little higher. Here's the point - I and my oldest brother
had rods with a lot of line. We cast into the deep water. My youngest brother had a rod with only a short amount line,
so his cast was only 4-5 feet from the shoreline. Guess who caught a 4 pound walleye - right, it was my 6 year old brother.
His bait was probably in 5 or 6 feet of water. Walleyes are more likely to feed near the shoreline. Lesson learned.
