Sure they will but where would you think it happened? The sender didn't ship it damaged, postal service wouldn't take it

Good point, hence why I suggested contacting the USPS, basically to work backwards from the last goods handler. I can see a long box causing a jam on those conveyors, for sure.

If I ordered it thru Amazon that's who I would go after. Tubes of any length or size will just roll off a package sorting machine

You could also if all else fails contact St. Croix, send pics in and should replace it for you. 25.00 fee though.

Ordered a $ 140 St. Croix rod. USPS delivered it. Packaging broken in half, rod also broken in half. Ordered through Amazon with a private shipper. Have lost my email which said delivery was late. Anyone know what I should do about this ? USPS or Amazon ?

Same thing happened to me first part of the year. I ordered a rod from Midway USA, and they shipped it with USPS. First rod was broken, I contacted Midway, per email and they provided a return Shipping label. I sent that rod back and ordered another one. 2 weeks later the second rod showed up, but Not before going to Hawaii first!! Yep, it was broken also and in two places, that time I just refused to take delivery. Now that upset Midway, and took me a month to get my $$ back. I ended up purchasing a similar rod locally and it seems to be just fine. So my advice would be to contact Amazon first, by email so you have a record of contact and see what they tell you. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Sorry to hear about that delivery. Stay away from Amazon for rods. Have seen complaints like yours many times.

Instead, purchase rods through Tacklewarehouse.com. TW ships their rods in a heavy duty tube that is darned near indestructible. Have purchased 7 rods through TW and they all arrived via UPS without a scratch.

Hope you get satisfaction from... ??

I’d start with Amazon, get your shipping and model numbers, and get Amazon to contact the seller or if the seller is listed, you contact the seller. The seller probably has insurance on the rod. IMHO

If you don't wait too long, Amazon will let you return things. That might be worth a shot.

I don't know about the Post Office but I worked at UPS for many years and it was the shippers responsibility to file a claim since they are the ones who insured the item.

Most companies charge a substantial fee to ship a rod and most don't use USPS. They use UPS or FEDX

I have had rod blanks shipped for close to 50 years. Yesterday was the first time they came through USPS. All of the other ones came through Fed EX or UPS. The one yesterday was two, two-piece, nine-foot rod blanks and the shipping box was about 5' long. But, I have had 2, 3, and 4 piece rods shipped and they always came UPS or Fed Ex. I haven't opened the one that came yesterday yet, but the box looks good.
