Yep and I glad I'm old enough to remember penny candy n Nicole cokes. A ok of smokes n 3 beers for a $1. Had a mom n pap snack stand here. I could get steamers or hot dogs for 20 cents. Pinball 6 plays for a quarter. The bread man coming to the house n getting a 10cent snack cake that was big enough to take more than one bite. All kinds of cool stuff.

Here it was Valley Pride bakery. Only got when at grandparents. I could pick one. I liked the spice cake. Milk man would deliver to the house also. Mom n pop stores all around. Country store with one gas pump. Slower lifestyle then. Not crazy about everywhere you go. As they say remember the good ole days. What will this generation say when they hit 70 n look back. 🤔

Hope all is well going Duck hunting next weekend on the opener with my oldest son he's coming up and we're go hunt Saturday and Sunday. Can't wait we haven't hunted the opener in two years with each other.
Have a good week

If you are as old as I am, you either remember these comments from 1955-ish, or just forgot:

"I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00."

"Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000 will only buy a used one."

"If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. Twenty five cents a pack is ridiculous."

"Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging ten cents just to mail a letter?"

"If they raise the minimum wage to $1 an hour, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store."

"When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would some day cost 29 cents a gallon? Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage."

"I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying 'damn' in 'Gone With The Wind', it seems every new movie has either hell or damn."

"I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas."

"Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President."

"I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now."

"It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet. It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work."

"I'm afraid the Volkswagon car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business."

"The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on."

"There is no sense going on short trips anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel."

"No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital, it's too rich for my blood."

"If they think I will pay 50 cents for a haircut...forget it!"

Ring any bells?
BTW
I remember gas 10cents agallon
and three cent stamps and penny post cards
If you are as old as I am, you either remember the... (show quote)

Crazy thinking I’m young at 66. I don’t remember the cheap gas. It was $.39/gallon when I started driving. Lol. I DO remember the sayings all along except the prices were a little higher. Like 10 cents higher. My first, paying, job was $.25/hour and I was rolling in the dough with that. A buddy of mine and I split a nickel a bale to cut, bale and stack the neighbor’s hay when we were in high school.

I am heading out duck hunting next weekend for the opener as well. Good luck to you guys! I am really looking forward to it.

The oil spill down here in Orange County, CA has shut down the fishing from north of Huntington Beach to South of San Clemente - extending about 5 miles out. So, I haven't been able to kayak fish for a couple of week.

Have a good hunt next week!
