I feel I’m getting the hang of my setup, but I feel my line is a little too slack.

I’ll cast out far enough, but on the retrieve I feel my line isn’t as tight as it should be.

Any pointers?

Sounds like you're using very light lures. I've never had that problem. That is all I can think of.
