I’ve been trying to look at the Stage post’s when I got cell service this last week or so. Been out Deer hunting with a couple hunting partners. Went out Opening weekend to a place I’ve hunted off and of for about 20 years, and taken a number of good bucks. I even have one that’s gracing one of my walls in the house. First three days hunting the timber strips and flats only gave up seeing 7 Does and fawns. I was stumped, feed everywhere, water within a mile and cover and bedding areas still all there. Then one of the guys ended up with an Abscessed tooth issue. So we broke camp and headed back to town so he could get to the Dr. And get some meds. That turned out good, couple of days on antibiotics and he was feeling a lot better. Now we made a new plan and just drive out to a past spot about 15 miles out of town. Started hunting low at 43/4400 ft to no avail. No track and no deer. Worked a few more patches, then Lunchtime. Eat our Lunch, told a few stories and I told the boys were going higher. Drove back in about 13 miles or so 62/6300 ft now and started hitting a couple new stops. I went up one old rode with my partner(they all won’t let me go by myself anymore since I got my prosthetic) while the other guys went up another. About 500 yards in my partner says, “up the hill to to your left”! There stood a nice Buck looking at us over some plum rush. I pulled up the rifle and could almost not see the crosshairs. Moved them up a little, then down a little and finally found them. Placed them on the Buck and took the shot, at Whitehall point he hit the ground. I walked up the hill about 100 yds and there he lay. What a nice Buck I was thinking, everything I could hope for with what is now my limited walking abilities. I still could not figure out why I had a hard time seeing my crosshairs, and it had me spooked a bit. I sure don’t need eye sight problem’s. Then my partner took a few pictures for me. Later that night after getting the Buck home and taken care of, I took time to look at the pics, and realized why I had the crosshair issue. I had a great day with friends and some rewarding meals with out come. I do have to figure out what to do about the crosshair issue though, as Elk Season starts in 2 weeks!😎
Nice buck, congrats! It may be time for an upgrade to an illuminated scope? Something to think about, anyway.

Nice Muley Ruff. That paired with an elk should keep you supplied for a good while.

Where’d you hit that buck Ruff, in the neck? I always shot mine in the neck. They didn’t go anywhere. That’s a really nice fat buck. Are they rutting up there?

Very very nice!
Great job done well.
I'm afraid you might be getting cataracts. I did.
Your story sounds familiar to me.
Don't worry though. They correct it with layers and a vacuum now. You'll have 20/20 vision for the rest of your life. Maybe a small set of reading glasses for really close work. No pain involved at all, less than 15 minute out patient procedure.
If you keep putting it off, you will adapt, then start failing at simple stuff like crosshairs or road signs....
I am there for you my brother.

Nice buck, RP. I noticed the last few years I hunted that the caliber rifle I was shooting got consistently smaller and the power of the scopes increased accordingly. Ended up shooting a Ruger No. 1 in 25-06 cal with a Vortex 6-20X scope. Got to take the scope covers off though.....lol
Sounds like a prior experience?
My brother-in-law did that too. My dad chewed him out.
* Even though you forgot to flip up those fancy covers, he was so close, the muscle memory of you shooting gun to shoulder would have been enough!!!
Nice job on the hunt! Glad that you had success on what looks like a fine specimen! Hope the cross hair issue gets easily resolved for you. I have had times when I am in a hurry to look thru a scope or binoculars and things are all black. Upon making this discovery, and you hope nobody else noticed...you skillfully remove the lens caps!

Deer Rut is still about a month away in Oregon. It would help in shooting deer especially bucks because they are so distracted by what they want they are not scared of hunters when in rut

You’re preaching to the Choir Jeremy. I’ve been hunting deer since I was 10 years old. The reason I asked is because the neck didn’t look swollen like it gets when they’re rutting.
