It rained on Saturday and my dad and I tried to go salmon fishing this morning but it was too muddy because of the rain. How long does it typically take before the water at least has some visibility again

A full day or two. It depends a lot on how much run off there was during the rain also.
Depends on lots of things. How big is the river?, How long did it rain?, How much current does the river have?, How deep is the river? Where is the river? Which river is it? Some never clear up. Some never get muddy after a rain.🤷♂️

Salmon are not a sight fish. They hunt with their nose. Muddy water won’t make much of a difference.
From the prior post, it probably makes little difference. But as for clearing up of the river, mostly depends upon whether the weather clears up, or continues to rain upstream. My theory is to go when you can, as often as you can, and stay as long as you can. Just Sayin...RJS
No one answer for that. To many variables. The most important one in the river itself. What is the bottom made of? Are there alot of tribs , run off ditches,or open fields? Size of the river. I live on Lake Erie where I fish 7 different for steelhead. Most are good after about 3 days but one larger mud and shale bottom river takes about a week and a few others are good after one full say. I will say the best time to fish it is the 1st day you can. Water just a little green from the minerals in the mud with a nice flow. Just gotta check reports or check it and try and hit it when its fishable
Probably a day after you could have gone. Just Sayin...RJS

I agree with you RJS! It doesn't take long after a rain.
However, if the river is very long and there's a heavy rain, or a longer period of rain many miles away, you may not see it clear up for a longer period of time. Just Sayin...RJS
