I was supposed to put my boat in for the first time this morning. Unfortunately I didn't tell Grammy about it. So we're eating breakfast today and I get the news were going to church earlier than usual so that we can go to the mall to look at another couch, a search that has been going on for two years now. From other conversations at breakfast she did mention that she is actually going to think about considering retiring, which will have very distinct pluses and minuses for me. So I keep mouth shut about the boat and went to look at the couch. Good thing I did too, since the wind kicked up 10 to 15 where the forecast was 4 to 6.
Next stop was my daughter's house. Not too bad there because granddaughter is one of my best fishing partners. Sent her a text that I'll bring the worms. Get there and we walk up the retention pond in the development where they live. Daughter comes along also. This pond is maybe 50 yards across but we know it has a bunch of bluegills to have some fun with. We started catching gill as fast as we could get bait on the hook. I think GD and I had about 6 a piece when my daughter come over with about a two pound bass. Talk about a shock. There's maybe 6 feet of water in the deepest spot. Needless to say, everyone was a little excited. Took a couple pictured, daughter is good in Salt but had never fished fresh water before. Go back to fishing and I think GD and I are at about 10 each, and I lost a couple that flipped off on the way in. Next thing,I hook something and it's putting a pretty good bow in my ultralite. Saw a flash in the water, it's another bass. Again about 2 pounds. Now I haven't fished much fresh water much, so that's my PB for largemouth. And I finally beat my granddaughter in our daily tournament 15 to 10, mostly because I caught the last four gills on 1 piece of worm and she was out of bait.

Great! Guess the wind came up for a reason! I love it that your GD is your fishing partner--that's wonderful!

That’s sure one for the memory bank Fly. Next time you better let Grammy know you want to take the boat out but everything happens for a reason

Nice catch Fly, you can't complain too much. You turned a big disappointment, into a PB Largemouth!
Next time let the Admiral know about the voyage ahead of time.

Very gracious of you to go along with the other plan as your day got started...but what a thrill to top it off with your fishing adventure and surprise LM bass! Great photos! So...we have to know...is the couch hunt still ongoing!?

Oh yeah but I think we're getting closer. Then all we have to do is wait out the 6 or 8 months til they make it.
