We had a tire issue out in the field, so I took my buddy’s truck about 70 miles back into a Wally World tire center as I wanted to resolve it while they (buddy and my Son) went hunting. I made the game time decision to stay back and deal with the tire rather than possibly be in the way or somehow blow an opportunity. We tore a hole in the tread where it meets the sidewall. Try as we might (plug and Fix a Flat) it was beyond repair and they couldn’t replace the tire until today. As I was heading back, I got the call from Brady “We killed a f…ing goat!” As much as I regretted not being there for it, I knew I was trying to do the right thing about the tire. Brady gave me a big hug when I got back thanking me for keeping the hunt “alive”. They decoyed in a very nice buck from 300 to 10yds and Brady made the perfect shot with his bow. It went about 50yds and it was over. The downside was that I had the game cart in the back of the truck I was driving 🤦🏼♂️ Another one of life’s lessons. It has been a great trip so far.
A very nice pronghorn specimen will be going on the wall
Making due without the game cart (only 1/2 mile carry 🤪) Oh to be 29 again!
Congrats to your son and good on you for taking one for the team!!! A hunt like that is a bucket lister for me! So cool!!

Nice one OJ. Thanks for the post but why did you spend all that time at the tire store. I see in the second pic you walked past a perfectly good tire right in the field. LOL. Give your boy a pat on the back for me.

Good one Gordon! There are tires scattered around on most of these ranches, used as water sources or to hold mineral blocks for the cattle, etc. Unfortunately it is drier than a popcorn fart around here, so water is a precious commodity.
Best times 4 sure.
Memories that will last forever.
Congrats.
Thx 4d pics
Hats off to anyone that takes a speed goat with a bow!!

Congrats to the kid, OJ. It's a shame you weren't there to see it, but what can you do.
