Casting tips for spinner powerbait setups?

Not sure how to get my casts out past the 20ft range. Seems like everyone around me can launch their Carolina rig super far and they catch all the damn fish.

For reference I’m using: 6.5ft light rod, spinning reel, using a couple split shots and 3ft of leader. 6 or 8lb mono.

More/different weight? Bad casting technique (my guess)? Reduce the drag?

Thanks for the help!

The Carolina rig the others are throwing, by it's nature with its bullet and/or barrel weights is already probably heavier than what you've got tied on with your split shots, so naturally it's casting farther.

Too bad we can't actually communicate with "diffensnow"....so very many questions to pose to "him".

As in, why do you think it's a "Carolina rig" since you're using split shot ?
What is a "spinner Powerbait rig" ? (unless "you" are referring to a rooster-tail-like lure that Berkeley put out, that had a 'cage' one could open and stuff with Powerbait... never caught a single fish with it....and certainly not fished as one would a Carolina rig)
If you would tell us what SIZE of split shot you are using, it might help answer your casting distance problem, though I believe it just may be your lack of technique, experience and practice. With the line weights you gave, one should get MUCH MORE DISTANCE than 20' with a spinning reel... even if it were nothing more than a bare hook.
You obviously need some hands-on, in-person critique of your queries.....start with finding a friend, a mentor, join a fishing club, taking advantage of clinics at tackle shops (like Sportsman's Warehouse or BPS/Cabela's) or even hiring a coach.

Aaaah...if only these "seeds" had any real "germination success" possibilities.........

If you slow down and read what is being read instead of looking for a way to make someone look stupid you’d see he said people around him with a Carolina rig. He didn’t say he was using one. 🙄

The way I read your topic is you are using 6 or 8lb leader? If so what is your mainline?
