I'm curious what fish are running along the coast and off the piers in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Monterey Ca
Have the mackerel come in?

I have a friend named Captain Dewey who charters a boat out of Half Moon Bay which is about 125 miles north of Monterey or 70 north of Santa Cruz. He could give you the best info. Talk to him at 650-888-5125

Thanks for the info - we'll probably hit Santa Cruz tomorrow based on this info. I heard from another guy at a bait shop I go to that the perch fishing is good in Santa Cruz right now too - he also said the smelt are everywhere. A 7 lb halibut off their? Good on her !!

When im there I always try Capitola thats my personal favorite, good perch and when theyre around the occasional Striper, perch I use root beer, or motor oil grubs, yozuri 5-6" hardbaits, i've since switched to LuckyCraft Surfpointers, good luck, i'm sure youll have a great time just being there!
