It was nice talking with you Spirit. I will make sure to send my first pictures your way. Lots of great scenery and hopefully a bundle of Speckled Sea Trout to show you.

I hear those are a blast to catch and that they'e pretty good eatin. We don't have those here. But I never heard of em til I moved here. Lived in the DC area for a couple of years a while back, used to fish the Chesapeake for blues and stripers, but never knew anyone who fished for specs or trout or whatever ya call em. Be safe Govna!

Blues and Stripers are still big. They are quite popular. Drum or Red Drum are also a hot ticket. I just can't seem to get one. The Specs are my favorite and the ones I have had the best luck with. Indeed they are fun and delicious. The Chesapeake Bay is great ! I live nearby in Virginia when I am up there and not on the Outer Banks. You Be careful too

Thanks Govna. I spent a lot of time on that one. The rest was always so busy. I haven't been there for over 20 yrs. The urge to get back down is getting stronger. When I 1st went there it was laid back n peaceful. I saw the same people at the motel hotels every yr. Then I missed a few yrs. Got down there n wondered what happened. Grown up n people driving like they was still in the big city. Another of nice places have been reuined by people like that. 👍

Unfortunately the growth has not stopped and the traffic is even worse. Now that school has opened back up it has improved a lot. The new pier is longer and has three windmills on it for green energy. There is usually plenty of room for fishing. I have only been on it twice, opening day and one other time soon after. This was three governors ago, I can not remember her name but she was there to cut the ribbon. My wife and I bought matching tees at the gift shop and put them on when we returned back that same night. So many people mistook us as the owners, telling us how much they loved the pier. It took like three of those comments before I caught on. Maybe that gray color did look official with the little logo on the chest..It sure was funny and so far away from being possible. If I remember right, the boards were not wooden but those gray colored composite ones.

Thanks for the update. Sounds nice. Alot of people stayed off it because it was short. I was there one day when the spots was running hot. They'd hit a bare hook. I had a 5gal bucket. Got to motel had 125 in the bucket. Never counted how many I threw back. Caught a wide variety of fish at Mateo bridge area.

Oh my God, yes ! I just love catching those fall Spot, tons of fun. They are not giants but two at a time is quite a fight. You are right, if your hooks smell like bait they would attack it. I have not gotten into a school like that in several years. The flat bridge to Manteo is still a good place and popular too. I was there just this past week. I have been working the beach looking for those hungry Spot, the search goes on.

I met some nice people on that bridge. Most would throw straight out. I'd throw back under the bridge n let if drift out. Got some nice sheep head that way. Hooked alot of neddle fish there. Got the big ray at the boat ramp under the bridge. Use to go to other side of Manteo n fish the sound there. Never had much luck but did find great driftwood stump I brought home. Have you ever fished alligator river?

Never have fished the gator but maybe one day. I have fished the boat ramp under the tall bridge. Never had a lot of luck there but I did get one keeper striper once. On the other side of Manteo I have tried a few times with little to show. You are right about the driftwood, I used to walk the shore to collect it for a now deceased friend. He carved shore birds and mounted them on driftwood.

I just retired this year and living in a small town in NC. Catching fish is nice but the journey to that should be be just as memorable. I have fished my entire life when I had the time and each trip to the water was justified either by catching fish or the time fishing without catching. It's good with two or more buddies or by yourself, which will give you time to reflect on what is really important in your life. Fishing and reflecting on Jesus makes life abundant. Tight lines.

That sure is some wise words Buzz, I fish by myself more times than not but enjoy being out there always and yes reflecting. Catching anything is just a bonus. I love having company with me much more but reflect less. Enjoy your retirement, it's great. At the end of October I will start my third year of it. The time is just flying by. I feel closer to our Lord when I am out there admiring His beautiful world. Yes indeed, tight lines Buzzapp ! What is that small town in NC ?
