Welcome to the stage Deb, Convict Lake, beautiful crystal clear water, try going fishing early as possible or late afternoon, Windy Point is very popular, good Fishing there, Hangmans Tree is very good, Convict Creek mouth a good hike but very rewarding, sometimes around the marina, and the Creek under the bridge excellent, the bigger fish we caught was always at Windy Point and Hangmans Tree, Powerbait, Thomas Buoyants lures, Mepps lures, Rooster tails lures, and bubble floats with mice tails sometimes works, your going to love the place extremely quiet and gorgeous !! Look at some pics on store wall and pics will tell you where they were caught and what they were caught on, good luck and tight lines, My 2 sons and I,went 4 straight years and rented a cabin for my birthday until Covid hit

Use to go there every year just after labor day and always did quite well. Jarhead covered just about everythihng, so won't add much. Did hike to the back of lake and always did well there. You might consider renting a boat for a day, saves a lot of walking. The restaurant there was quite execellent, but pricy.

If you are bait fishing use power bait get several different colors and the rainbow color.
Set up 4lb test line sliding egg weight (there are different sizes) swivel s and 2lb leader line. You want your leader 18 to 24 inches long. And small treble hooks.
Also the the Berkeley mouse and they come in different colors I would get all the colors.
If any questions text me.
Good luck and have a safe trip
Andy

Google Convict Lake Resort ,,and then hit Lake Map ,it will show you those points,,, you Kayaked it? Windy Point is on the left side of the marina, Hangmans Tree is on the right side of the marina, you can see the dead tree hanging over, the mouth of Convict Creek is at the furthest end of the lake,it's all beautiful,,
