Hey folks, I'm new to this forum and already picking up on a few things. I'm a beginner when it comes to bass fishing and checking out a lot of fishing videos...love Roland Martin and Realistic Fishing. There's a lot more to it then I originally thought. I live in California 12 minutes from a highly pressured reservoir...there folks there all the time...especially on the banks...there are a good amount of boats as well. I get skunked as far as bass are concerned almost every time. It's only 12 minutes from my house that's why I go there...any other semi decent water body is on average an hour and a half away...any suggestions would be much appreciated

Welcome to the Stage Dambass. Obviously I can't help you with locations, but others can, if you're more specific with your location. California is a huge state, so help us help you. You may be surprised what is nearby. Good luck and Tight Lines!

Thanks Fredfish. I'm out of Glendora So Cal. Puddingstone Dam is the water body close to my house. East fork is in the San Gabriel mountains and is fairly close as well but its closed until 2022 because of all the fire damage from the bobcat fire...burned thousands of acres up there. I just might have to do a little driving to find something off the grid. It's more of a time element for me. Puddingstone is 12 minutes away and convenient time wise.

Thanks Saw1. I'm out of Glendora So Cal. It's about 60 minutes east of Los Angeles. Puddingstone Dam is 12 minutes from my house so I go there out of convenience. I think the bass are wise to most rigs because the dam is so, so pressured. I might go up to Big Bear lake sometime but it's about 2 hours away. East fork is in the San Gabriel mountains and is fairly close as well but their closed until 2022 because of the Bobcat fire. Burned thousands of acres up there. I did manage to find a place called Fisherman's Paradise about an hour and a half east of me but it's a $16 entry fee. I went one time and there were alot of folks there as well but they were all fishing catfish. I set up my Texas rig with a 4ot wide gap and a Senco and caught a 4.2 lb bass. Only fish I caught that day but it was pure heaven.

I use Floral carbon line especially in high pressure lake's l use to live in So Cal. Try worming and work it slow !! Go down to 6lb test line . Early morning and evening I've caught a lot of nice bass in the City parks but you have to fitness fish and don't get disappointed. I use to use Robo worm 🪱 with a Texas rig light split shot
Good luck

Thanks Andy, really appreciate it. I'll pick up some robo worms and re-spool some 6 lb test over next weekend.

Oh, one more...I had floralcarbon spooled on my spinning reel before but everytime I casted it would jump off the spool so I took it off. It's a Lews speed stick combo. I didn't spool it some guy at Bass Pro shop did. I don't think he over spooled it, it looked good couldn't cast it without a mess

I've had that problem also when I have had line put on with the machines. So I put the line on my self. Never had a problem since then.
Well come to the stage
!!
Use to live in So Cal grew up in Whittier.
Have you fished Puttstone lake off the 57?
Have a good day.

Yeah, that's the one I go to all the time...never caught a bass there yet. Lots of pressure but I will try the finesse technique you mentioned.
P.S. I do not have a boat so more challenging with all the good bank spots taken as soon as the park opens

Try Perris lake along the dam . Then go to where the boat dock is fish on the left side of shore line and work that shore line all the way to the back side of the lake.
And Prado park lake off the 71 and Irvine lake.
Give them a try.
