The newer gear is 1000X more braid friendly. The modern braid is slicker as well, even the cheaper 4 or 5 carrier stuff. They also have 8 and 9 carrier line that's smoother but I don't think it justifies the higher price. I'm happy with Powerpro.

Yea I’m going with the PowerPro! Im going to use one of my poles and reel I have already, thanks for all good advice!! Good luck and be safe!!

New gear can handle it. Not to worry.
Ceramic eyes vs bacķ then steel eyes.
Power pro vs back then spider wire.
Apple vs orange. No comparison.

That’s what I thought you had, I found this at a Garage sale, I no you like a smaller reel I think it’s even smaller then the one you use on one of your poles, also have the PVC in my car,

That 15# braid would work great on that reel.

Bassmatter, I used Berkley Fireline for years back when I was doing a lot of catfishing. It's really good stuff too if you can't find what you want in power pro. I like it for the lighter stuff, it's a little stiffer and easier for me to get a knot in because my eyesight ain't so good and my hands are a little shaky. I'd say it's a toss up between those two.

I use 30# on everything from panfish to salmon. It's not for its breaking strength, but because anything smaller is to limp. It seems to knot up easy and is almost impossible to untangle with my fading eyes. No loss in sensitivity as no stretch, I used a friends reel with 12 pound mono last week. It seemed like I was casting with rope.

Took the day off today, work has finally slowed down! So I’ll be fishing a couple week days before schools open for the new school year, caught 1 larger mouth, sure peaceful on a week day compared to the weekends, fun action packed morning, after fishing with mono for most of my fishing years, I’m setting up a braided pole. I’m not sure what brand I’m going to get ? If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated! Good luck and be safe!!

Nice fish
Yes it is nice not fishing on the weekend's !!
I would go 15lb braid that is what I use . With 8lb floral as a leader.
Good luck fishing and safe times on the water
Andy

Don’t be afraid to go even lighter braid. I fish 10 braid with 8 lb fluro leaders almost exclusively… on the right light rod, especially fishing lakes, 10 lb braid is tough… really tough. Firm believer to go as light as possible

Yea JB134 Im thinking the same, the pole I’m setting up with braid will be used in fresh water, having a lot of issues with all the Lilly’s and weeds in one of the lakes I fish, it holds some huge Bass, and I have lost several fish due to all the crap in the water, so as much as I want to go as light as I can might have to up it a bit, but we think a like on going as light as possible!! Good luck and be safe!
