Looking to fish this lake with my 5 year old and he likes to bass fish! Any areas are better than others? And baits that are key? Thanks in advanced
I will sound like a broken record for suggesting this, but if time allows, there is an excellent source of lake information that can be obtained by visiting the following web site: sportsmansconnection.com
The publish some hard copy spiral bound books for about $22, and you can also buy online single lake data sheets for about $2.00. This lake is documented in the "West Central Region" book for Michigan (Ionia County).
I found your lake in my library copy, and they suggest that you can find decent bass fishing (LMB) just about anywhere along the shorelines. Average depth is 20' with 2 deeper holes near the Northerly end that reach 30' to 35' and may hold some nice walleye.
Overall they say that you can expect to catch larger than average bluegills and crappie as well. Underwater brush piles/structure has been placed as habitat along the Southerly shores, where the panfish may be holding. You might even catch some jumbo perch! At 325 acres, it is a fairly large lake so hopefully you can take notice of shoreline cover and if the water is clear enough, maybe see what is going on for submerged items. Also mentioned is a chance for some decent Northern pike and channel catfish! If this lake was closer to me, I'd go check it out in person with a fishing test! I think you guys are going to have some fun.
Nice looking small boat launch located on the North middle region at the end of Morrison lake Road...and maybe bring your golf clubs...I noticed a nice course in the NE area!
Best regards on your trip!
