I have a Pelican Icon 100x that I've used for years now. I want to upgrade to a Bonafide SS127 which I would like to put a trolling motor on at some point. Before I do, I've seen people mount trolling motors to the bow and stern.
Is there an advantage to one position over the other?
Weight distribution concerns?
Is one easier to operate over the other?
I would like to mount the trolling motor on the stern to not clutter things in front of me. I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything as I plan things out. It would be for mostly lake fishing with a few river trips in relatively calm waters.
Thanks in advance.

Think about pushing a rope. Bow mount is easier to pull your kayak.
I’ve mounted electrics on a 10’ Livingston and an 18’ big boat with pretty powerful main motors and always preferred the electric on the bow. Either tiller controlled or remote controlled. I’ve used them for trolling lake water and up or down stream on big river water for steelhead. The electric was never in the way and provided better directional control Especially in keeping the bow into the wind rather constantly trying to turn the boat into the wind . Most electrics just aren’t that powerful depending on boat size, length. They also don’t weigh much and balance isn’t an issue it’s the battery remotely located.
If you plan on fishing a river you may want to put it on stern. On bow you'll have to keep it low enough to avoid hitting ur yak. Unless you're fishing deep water there also.
