Help fishing streams

I have been fishing local ponds but a lot are residential and I hate being asked to leave. There's a healthy stream back behind me, maybe 50' wide and plenty of small water falls, current, etc. I know to fish pools where there doesn't seem to be much current but what else should I be looking for?

Some of the neighbors have mentioned there are Bass down there. I've only been down once and it was after a good rain so I wasn't able to see any fish. Should I wait til it's calm? What bait should I use? Techniques? Etc

I like fishing current in rivers, more oxygen, more food flowing, and fish the breaks in the current. Points, behind rocks, jams and eddys. Less luck in slack areas.

Rule of thumb, if you can see the fish, the fish can see you. With streams it's important to learn to read the water. Like the previous post, all those are places that hold feeding fish. Stay far enuff back from the edge so you don't cast shadows or your profile gets skylined. Toss bait or lure into the current let it drift to a slack spot and retrieve.
