I have a fishing room now. Just keep putting fishing equipment in it and finally the wife calls it a fishing room. Take the flower pictures down and put Bass pictures up. Then there is room for more gear in house than Walmart stocks these days. By the time I can’t fish anymore I’ll have a tackle shop. I have a plan.

I will be having one next year Food, after I take care of my fishing buddys. Probably get rid of my offshore gear and some other saltwater stuff.I'll keep enough for occasional use, and my currently used freshwater gear. EVERYTHING ELSE MUST GO!!!

Dang that reminds me...I need to take a day and post pictures of stuff I want to give away for folks having money issues. I'm thinking this might not happen until Winter. We'll see.

Rookie my butt Fred. You're close to pro status I'm a rookie brother. I still think about buying new things all the time. If i was younger n got out more I'd buy more. Some one will get it all one day. Pretty bad when given my limited budget i have more combis than the local wmart. They use to have a big fishing section. I rarely go in there any more 👎

Grizzly

Got snagged. Pulled her loose but straightened the light wire hook a little .
Took pliers to the hook gap and got her back in shape pretty quick

Checked the point and it had a hook on it. Tip of the point bent over.
Death knell for me.
Haven’t ever had any luck that was Worth it to straighten a hook point and resharpen.
My opinion only , if you bend the direct point of any hook, ditch it.
Unless you are really good.

Thanks Grizz, but not even in my dreams. I don't have even 10% of the gear someone like Ben, or Eyecrosser has. I try to have a little bit of everything, but I'm not even there yet. When fishing is very good (not often around here) I try to use a variety of tackle, looking for the BIG girls. Most of the time it's tough going, and I revert to basics just to avoid the skunk.
As far as Wally World goes, ours are going down hill as well. 30 some odd years ago I bought most of my tackle, and outfitted my little 12ft Jonboat at K-Mart. Everything from seats to carpet, trolling motor, rods, reels and lures and line. Sears was a close second for lures and terminal tackle. Then I discovered mail order places like BPS, Cabelas, and Gander Mountain . The money I saved on sales taxes paid for more stuff. Now we pay sales tax almost everywhere, so I buy what I can locally but there's not many choices anymore. So now most is online.

I bend all my hooks out...about 5 degrees. I catch way more fish that way.

I like to give them a little twist. That way if they are in the mouth sideways they catch on they way out.

I agree. Whatever it does I just know I lose fewer fish. I also started buying VMV hooks. They offset the 3 degrees at the factory.

I find that offset hooks put an unnatural bend in the worm, causing it to twirl on the retrieve. This usually causes line twist. IMHO.

I really like the way it makes my swimbaits have a rolling action to go with the tail action

Hey Fred I do put my worm on the hook to create that twist sometimes for a different look but I always will use a small barrel swivel to stop the line twist

In that case Henry you would be fine, the swivel will eliminate the twist. I switch from a TR worm, to a wacky worm, to a jerk shad, on the same rod, so I don't have anything but a small snap on my line.
