Fished the chop !

lipsticker Loc: Hartford Wisconsin

Weather called for light North West winds... WRONG, We fished a ugly 3 foot chop off the North point. (Lake Michigan) Lake was a mess, Lot of guy's coming in as we headed out. Long slow wet ride out to 90 feet of water, Got a picture of the lake ferry that runs between Wisconsin and Michigan. Thing moves around 42 MPH.
Temp was good (47*) at 50 feet so we set up there and worked our way out to 140 feet. Fishing was slow. We managed two for the day and they came right on top of each other. The first was a 3 pound Coho and then this happened. Came off a down rigger, knew it was a good fish right off as it ran out about 100 feet of line on it's first run. Had three more good runs before it found the net. 27 pound King. The smile says it all.

Yee Hah on that big king! The word out there seems to be that the baitfish are increasing in number compared to some seasons past, while the population of kings is waning, so the net result is that what kings there are tend to be on the large end of the spectrum!

Glad that you were rewarded with that huge salmon for your efforts out there! Nice timing on the ferry crossing under the arch of your rod...very artistic!
