Learning the ropes in Oregon

Been fishing for 65 years. Mostly freshwater. Trout. Streams, rivers, lakes and high mountain lakes, bait, lures and fly fishing- I’m no purist, just love the tug!
Going to O’dell Lake this weekend in search of Mackinaw. Anyone out there with Mac experience at O’dell? Addicted Fishing has some great tips on U-Tube, but where are the best spots in this largish lake?

Welcome fellow Oregonian to the stage, KJS, from down in the Rogue Valley (Medford). Sorry I don't have any experience at Odell, but I too, want to learn about it....hear good things and have read lots about the variety, as well. Hopefully somebody will chime in.
Where's your home base ?
Good luck out there !

I usually fish for the Kokanee. Along the south shore in the really deep seems to be where Mackinaw fishers hang out.

KJS welcome and hope you have fun. I’ve never fished at O’dell but a couple of my uncles did for years. They used downriggers and fished deep this time of year. I know they caught some 30+lb ders in there. Not sure wher on the lake to tell you to try but it will need to be a deep. I e fished for Mac’s in other lakes and I used a heavy Jig down just off the bottom just like the Ocean. But I’m only talking about 130’ deep or so. A fish finder would help you locate fish and depths so Good Luck!!
