So, I'm pretty new to fishing and just bought a St Croix Mojo bass casting rod (7'1" medium-heavy/fast) and I have no idea what kind of reel to put on it.

Any advice? Budget is 150

--Wow really nice rod for being new to fishing someone must be giving you advice you just bought one of the top rods on market closest thing you can get to customize Lowe’s makes really nice reliable user friendly bait casting reels to match your rod I would suggest looking for a reel between $150 and $250 bucks you’ll be extremely happy

Lots of good reels in that price range. Find one that you like and go with it. Abu Garcia makes a very nice model Revo-X that would work well. Having said that, there are many others to choose from. I personally prefer to purchase rods and reels in person vs. on line. That way you can actually see and feel them for fit and function. Good Luck!

I just bought a Lews Custom XP, It was $120 at Cabelas, absolutely fantastic quality and very user friendly, my first ever baitcaster and it took about an hour to get it down really good, maybe 20mins to make casts that were good enough to fish. Just read the instructions on the braking systems and you'll be fine

Shimano SLX would be a good fit on that rod
For a little over budget ($30 more)
A Shimano Curado K is an awesome workhorse of a reel.
