New angler and had a thought recently.
It's legal in my state to use two rods at once; should I be fishing two rods at once on the bank if I can manage?
For instance, toss out a bobber with live bait and let it stay there, while I toss plastics into cover? Or is it inefficient/unnecessary? Theoretically, I could land a nice-sized pike while also casting for bass
Thanks

That is the question? I can't seem to manage two with the attention I feel that is appropriate.
Absolutely! Just remember to keep an eye on your other rod. I fish with 2 lines out all the time.
Even though it is legal to fish 2 rods at once, make sure you do not have to pay a fee for the second rod. Or you may get busted by fish and game.
Read the rules and regulations for the state you are fishing in. In Massachusetts the rule is defined as a maximum of two hooks at one time. The abstracts should be available online.

Hey HT just make sure your bait bobber rods in a good rod holder and the bail on your spinning gear or your baitcasters open so they don't go swimming with the fishes😁

Ya mad dog 2hooks also means lures with multiple (treble) hooks
I normally have a minnow under a slip bobber while I toss plastics both on shore and in my boat. Had many a mad scramble to catch my rod before it went under. I like those Booms racks, may need try some of those.
You are correct. I usually take the belly hook off if I want to troll with a Rapala and another line.
I don't understand the nanny state rules counting how many hooks you can use. Any lure over 4inches is illegal, unless you remove the 3rd hook, meanwhile ruining the balance and action of it???
We are allowed to fish 3 rods at a time, no restrictions on #of hooks. Trout Management areas are 2 rods, and some areas are single free swinging (no trebles, no jigs) but that's only for Trout and Atlantic Salmon, in Trophy Fish Rivers.
No extra fees for multiple rods, anywhere. How did you let it get so restrictive?
