New line keeps tangling

That’s exactly how you should put line on your reel. Put a little pressure with your fingers right below the first eye on your rod. No problem with twist to start off with.

If you soak your spool in warm-hot water before you go fishing it softens the memories of the line thus less twist

The one answer I don't see here is running the line through the telephone book method putting tension on the line as you reel it on but do they still print telephone books.
