That’s exactly how you should put line on your reel. Put a little pressure with your fingers right below the first eye on your rod. No problem with twist to start off with.
Ya know I been thinking. Wonder how it would work to put the spool of new line in a bucket of water and load your reel? Gonna try that one of these days.
If you soak your spool in warm-hot water before you go fishing it softens the memories of the line thus less twist
