Quotes tend to have their roots embedded in wisdom and common sense...and what has been listed certainly does reflect that!
I Agree. Thus why i started to copy and paste the profile quotes. Find them very interesting.
Some of the latest were used by my Dad “I’m not always right, but…”
One he used often, but I believe is missing from the list is “I’m not as good as I once was, but I am as good once…as I ever was!”
Father, a retired navy chief always said " There are three ways to do things, the right way, the wrong way and the navy way."

OJ, did you at one time have that on your profile? It sounds familiar.
I only just started copying the current profile quotes.

Just for "the record"; that quote that is "attributed to" me; is NOT original to ME... It was in a book as a stand-alone kind of a thought, with "Wishart" printed after it... You "caused me to" do a little research about Wishart. It didn't end well, for George Wishart (or Wiseheart) ... He was a 32 year old Scottish born Protestant "Reformer", who was "hanged on a gibbet and burned"... Not exactly what I ASPIRE TO.
Plumb, " Murky goals explain the actions of those trying to achieve them."
Work with it.

I may have started with that one.

Is that why you changed your profile quote? I had to google gibbet. Wonder if he had a choice of style.

Oh no... I change that up, all the time. Infact; I've had a "Wishart quote" under there, at some point in the past. Just wasn't educated about WHO EXACTLY he was, until yesterday... On "a tangent" note: There is a hill, east of "Uptown" Groton, MA; upon which stands the ruins of what APPEARS to have been an old castle. It's on the north side of Rt.40, not far from town. (Maybe a mile or less, from "The Groton Inn", on Rt.119.)
After having lived at the "Groton 3 miles" granite marker on Rt.40, for a while; I eventually came to find out that the name of that hill, is "Gibbet Hill" & that the castle was, in reality; a hospital. (And, it WAS said by some, that they used to "hang some people" up on that hill" ... I'm not mindful of: "during what time period"; but, the Salem "Witch Trials" seem to "blow thru my mind" when pondering THAT.

Now that is a history lesson that never made my catholic school books. Bet it was because of the witches.

I am in strong agreement with you, on the "Learn from your mistakes" end of things... as for the: "don't be afraid..." end of it; I would like to remind everyone of "The Gospel According to Mathew" in Chp. 7:6= "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." ... What brings that to mind, is the response (or lack of response) I'd "gotten out of" a post on here, quite some time ago.
