Red hooks to me are just another gimmick, if the fish are there they will usually bite regardless of hook color. Me, I'm not sitting on one area waiting for something to show up, I'm moving

Well fellows i just saw Bill Dance show on red. It was about red line n red hooks. Red line almost invisible under water light passes thru it. Red hooks can be seen. Light reflects off red hook. Fish see red on prey. Red eyes red gill plates or blood πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ£πŸŽ£

I bought a pack of #6 red hooks once some years ago. Been buying them ever since. Not sure why they work. I read that to a Bass red is gray

Give them a try. They don’t cost more and there aren’t scaring fish away.

There all biting red hooks.
Threw in the red chatterbait for contrast. Wonder what the rockbass thought it was doing.
For scale that decking is two by six. Crappie fight a little better when they get that size.

Looks like they're working great for you, Jwid. According to both those studys,Bass CAN see red. Most of the U Tube gurus recommend a Red Crawfish pattern Squarebill in the Springtime as well as a Red Chatterbait. Is that by chance a Z-Man Crosseyes model you have there? I just picked up a Red one 2 weeks ago.

This is confusing at best. When fishing live bait in saltwater, rule is use greenist (is that a word) bait you can find. Avoid the red or bloodied sardines/anchovies. I've done very well fishing red trebles for Trout. What's up with that? Shiny stainless hooks should be used in saltwater anyway.

Stainless hooks are banned here if you get caught.......I still use them. Stainless steel hooks are not shiny

Hey Fred. I have a red craw sq bill at the time. Fishing a tournament on the Susquehanna bite died. Tubes n senkos not working. Less than a hr to go. I was co ang that day. Fishing bridge piers we'd drift from bridge to bridge theb do it again. I put red craw on n crank till finish 3 keeper in that time frame. The only color i had that much luck in that short of time was pink. 3 in last 30 mins on the youghiogheny river lake. I don't leave home w/o them πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ£πŸŽ£

I hear ya Grizz, if it works, don't change it. Too many self proclaimed experts shaming people's choices. If you think it works, and you're catching more fish, then go for it. I keep a couple Red Craw Squarebills, Red Chatterbait, 2 Red Spinnerbaits, and a Red and White Bleeding Bait KVD Buzzbait. I've caught fish on them all, including worm and swimbait hooks. They're not magic, but if the change helps, why not.

I total agree with you Fred. The guys i fished with saw what i used but they stuck to senkos n tubes. They'd throw a spinnerbait crankbait or once in awhile a jerk bait. I luv senkos n tubes but when they don't work i change. I developed confidence in spinnerbaits always liked crankbaits. I use shakey head standup jig heads swimbaits chatterbaits. They gad yrs of bass fishing on me. Still they wouldn't try new things. I use lipless cranks i like redeyed shad. I never could understand why they did the same thing in the same place every trip then bitch when they didn't catch. Sometimes fish hit something crazy. Thing i don't understand one time they say match the hatch then they say show them something new. 😡😡. Gnite friend πŸŽ£πŸŽ£πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Fish don't read magazines or watch tv. They don't know whattheyare supposed to do according to the experts. If it works use it πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ£πŸŽ£

I see the same thing buddy. My tackle selection is maybe 10%of someone like Ben. But I've got a little bit of everything. Sometimes you gotta dig deep. Good night my friend.
