How to catch Carp feeding along the pond/lake waterline?

I can't tell you how many times I've walked by our nearby lakes and ponds and see very sizeable carp feeding on the algae growth along the waterline. I tried going out there with a landing net, but they do seem to be a bit too crafty for me ATM and see it comming a mile away.

So, my question is this: Is there any tips/strategy/ect to catching specifically those carp that I see along the waterline?

I've tried a small hook with several pieces of canned sweetcorn, but either they just kinda stare at it, don't notice it at all and/or get spooked in about 30 seconds and drift away from it. EDIT: also tried bread. I think only 1 carp noticed the bread and took a nibble, then left. No one else went for the bread.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

There are all types of Carp dough baits. Google it for pre made or check U Tube for home made ones.

You can get mini harpoons to use with a slingshot.

In the past I used a small treble and eased it down just ahead of the fish sucking the algae. When he sucks it in , smack him !

Oatmeal balls. They are spawning this time of year. The males torpedo the females close to the shore to help them release eggs. Pretty tough to get them to feed when they are spawning.
