i was 22 when I got married. I had seen many of my parents and grandparents friends retire when they were in there 60-70's, and then pass away. This was after they had saved all there lives to travel. I told my bride, that was not going to be us, and by the time we were 50 that we would have seen a lot of the world. It was the one "Hindsight" that actually worked for us. With hard work and planning, we accomplished our (my) dreams. We have seen 38 countries, and 39 states. Still have a few to go! Now approaching our 54th Anniversary next week, we will be hitting the road to see more of this great country. God was very, very good this Hawaiian beach boy and my Illinois farm girl!

Where you going on your scuba/sailing trip Kandy? Best diving in the world for me was Fiji Loved NZ and the Kiwi's. Check out one of their sports bars for a little fun and games.

Probably down to the Caribbean. My friend knows people there.

Great sailing and some very good drift dives depending which islands you are going to. If you are in the BVI's, check out Jost Van Dyke island. Best bar in the Carribean, but only if you are so inclined........lol!

Thx YB, the plan is not done yet! May regret this road trip, going to be at our first stop next week which is Lake Havasu and it is suppose to be 116*. Have a sunset boat trip planned for our anniversary night on the lake. Problem is that it is going to be 110* at 7pm when we depart. Sounds like a few rum & cokes to me And no potties......whoops, wife is going to love that!

How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!

Ulysses Tennyson

My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out than to fade away
My my, hey hey

Into the Black Neil Young

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

A number of poetic references. If you are not familiar, you should look them up.
Good inspiration for a day dealing with the blues.

I hear ya BassGuy. Got to travel the world with orchestras and now getting my pension from being in the Union since 17yrs old. Have plans to go scuba/sailing this year and New Zealand next. I love to travel!!

Be sure to try the Greek isles. I celebrated my 75th bd in Crete and it was gorgeous. My daughter and husband started from Rome on a cruise down the Adriatic and ended in Athens. Both trips were phenomenal.

Wife has been bugging me for decades to do the Greek Isles. May just do it if this covid thing really ends.

My friends are from Patmos. Stayed in their 600 yr old house built into the hill. Didn't need A/C, it was built to catch the breeze across the island. The color of the water there was such a deep, vibrant blue. When I came up from diving in I felt like I was in a Disney movie. Calamari and Octopus right out of water, friend's uncle had the only working farm so fresh veggies. Another Uncle was the priest in charge of the cave where St. John wrote the book of Revalation. Got a private viewing. The key was over a foot long! What a great experience. Definitely go!

Sounds like an awesome experience Kandy! O.K., guess we are old enough now to start a new bucket list. Will move that to the top 3. Do your friends need a couple of new, really nice, fun, older friends?

Thanks
