Lake Mead, this country's largest
reservoir, is currently at 37% of its' capacity ! The photo shows how low the water level is currently, and it is expected to drop several more feet
by the end of this summer ! It hasn't been full since 2000, is now 130 FEET below normal due to this 20-yr.
drought, and this year they're talking seriously about watering cutbacks
for California, Nevada and Arizona, though that is mostly for agriculture !

Makes since to cut back on water but not so much for agriculture. Look at all the other water that's being wasted jmho

Lot's of water left there, but if it drops too low the power plant will shut down and the lights go out

Well, that should have been more precise - cut back on water for agriculture vs. our drinking water
is what was meant !

Remember when Flint MI was having that water problem and the really bad drought in CA years back? Nestle was still going in there and bottling water to sell to us. They discovered he was getting away with paying a tiny percentage of what he was supposed to be paying to have access. Despicable.
I remember a severe drought when I was a kid. My Mom taught me to use dishwater to flush the toilet and now I use the water from my dehumidifier in basement.
Really love when I see people's sprinklers on lawn when it's raining!

Exactly what I mean there is always ways to conserve water. country Folk know that all too well that don't have a water line with an endless supply of water running through it.

Out here on the left coast, we had a really bad drought back in the 1970's. I live in the Northern (wetter) part of the state and it was bad. I got some empty drums and a pump, and we recovered about 90% of our gray water to flush the toilet and keep some of our plants alive (but not the grass). We didn't flush the toilet unless it was brown, if you get my drift. Thanks to the California water project, the Los Angeles area down in the dry part of the state had their car washes, fountains, etc. running full blast, all their pools full of water, and water running down the gutters.

If that doesn't make any sense, let me 'splain: Population density is a lot less in Northern California and a lot higher around L.A. There are a LOT more votes down there. Who you think the politicians are gonna listen to?

the bright side must be its way easier to find and catch the fish still living there.less room to roam in, i'd say.

One of the biggest wasters of water in that area are the casinos in Nevada. The water features in front of the hotels lose more water than several cities combined, all to show off how much money they make.

Right on ! Can you imagine how
much water that Bellagio fountain loses to evaporation on a daily
basis ? Those should be the FIRST water cutbacks made, before agriculture or any others !

Wish we could pump some of the rain from the gulf coast to them.
