Glad things weren't any worse. Shame after your ordeal you got to deal with "People" at the launch.

This one was “rogue”.
Handled it like I’ve handled every other wake condition . Cautiously
This one was a sum bitch of a wake.
Waves on lake were 1 - 1 1/2. That I deal with every day.
This one probably 3 1/2 or more including the trough.
No crap. Grand daughter said let her know a week ahead of next trip so she could prepare her will.
She is a sweet kid . My buddy.
She’s turning into a young woman and her papaw ain’t even a little bit ready for that.

Hey Ben, how old is your GD? Mine is 15 and loves goin out with me fishin, shootin , jumpin off the cliffs at the lake or whatever else we decided to do.
Will be getting together with her over the 4 of July weekend in Tahoe. Always look forward to that time.

Wow. Ben. Quite a day. Lake of the Ozark’s has that kind of stupidity. That’s why I found a quiet 10hp lake. I have to sacrifice larger fish and some variety because it is small. But safe. Keep up the safe boating. Glad you and GD are okay.

Glad you n granddaughter came out safe. That could have gone real bad. I had that happen to me one thing. I was on main lake running near 30.Just as i got to juntion of two coves a pleasure boat came out of ea cove wide open in front of me. I did the same thing went high on 1st wake. The way wakes hit ea other i went up the sid of one n came down in the side of my glastron. If i would have been in my tracker I'm sure i would have went over. Definitely swamped. Don't want to do it again. Boaters safety card means nothing. 😒😒

Took granddaughter out to local lake today
Winds 15 mph sustained. Not ideal but manageable.
Went to first spot I thought post spawn crappie would be. 8 boats on my spot. Lots of guys trolling.
Didn’t want to spot lock in guys trolling paths so we moved from secondary spot.
Estimated 400 boats on lake today plus jet skis.
Some of these boats are big 30+ footers.
They had the lake chopped to hell and back.
On way to secondary spot , I’m at speed. Not wide open but about 35 mph.
Had a 35 ft pleasure craft doing about 50 and a big ski boat cross my path in opposite directions.
Wakes merged and I saw that it would likely be hairy.
Adjusted course for head on and slowed to about 20 mph
Crested first wake way bow high , when it settled in the trough. . Second wave was waiting to eat my lunch.
Speared that wave full on. Went sub surface . Boat ate it it from bow to stern. About 10 inches of water in cockpit.
Granddaughter , bless her heart is grabbing her stuff , mu stuff like crazy moving to higher ground.
Told her “ sweetie , we are sinking”
Put bilge on manual
Limped back to closest ramp and tied off to let bilge pump do it’s job.
Some dick asked me to move so he could launch his half million. Dollar boat.
Told him to F off. I’m not moving till my pumps clear the load so I wouldn’t sink.
Bilges did their job and back in business.
Tried to go to third spot but water so rough my 80 pound thrust TM couldn’t keep pace
So rough

Yikes! Glad that you kept your wits about you and managed to get back to shore and re-group! That would be a harrowing experience. I agree that many "boaters", especially non fisherfolk, have no clue about how their water displacement/wake may affect others...especially when cruising in fairly close proximity to you or sharing a body of water with numerous other watercraft. Good manners should be practiced in more places than just the dinner table!

Wow, what an ordeal! Very cool grandaughter and glad to hear she's up for another round. Too bad you can't find a less jerk filled lake.

First of all I’m glad to hear that you two are okay. What you described is why I stay off the large lakes that are frequent by pleasure boaters. Way too many of them are idiots. I stay to small lakes that are not popular with that crowd. I prefer small lakes that allow electric motors only or less than 10hp motors

I feel your pain Ben. So glad to have a job where I don't have to fish weekends. My son and I pulled into Clearlake Oaks ramp a few weeks ago on a Monday. Two boat trailers in the parking lot! We had a great morning of fishing so when the wind came up instead of getting off the lake we fished the keys. Out of the wind and only a few hundred yards from the ramp. When we came out the main lake had 4 ft rollers and we were going straight into them. Misjudged the speed I needed to stay on top and went bow under on back to back waves. Never knew so much water could come into a boat so quick. Never knew a wave could clear my full windshield right over the top of my head. Soaked! Gave it some throttle, hit the bilge and was never so happy to get to the ramp. One good thing though, that was the last time that I left the PFD's stowed away while the big motor is running.
