For those who are on this site regularly, you have seen my auction acquisition spinner baits and bottom bouncer posts. As a final question I thing: There were 8 like new stored in plastic soft lures like in the photo. I know most anything will catch a fish given the right time place and conditions, but what are these? Are they just "cute" or do any of you use them in your arsenals for more than just novelty?

Funny you should ask Bapabear, those are Bill Dance's, Dance's Eels. A couple of us dug them out of cold storage and are gonna try them again this season.

Interesting! I have two, new in their original packages with Bill Dances picture as a young man from days way past. The ones I just got are far more flexible, so I assumed they were a new version or modification of the old lure. I guess the old ones are just getting stiff with age. My body is doing the same thing.

Not sure of the exact stat but these are considered in the top 5 worst mass baits ever made
They rank up there with the helicopter lure and the banjo minnow.
Look like a gigantic sperm to me ( or one of fredfish’s regular sperms)

Got some when they first came out. Never could catch a bass on them. So thought I could at least get my money out of them up in Canada. Those pike will eat anything. Wrong. That is the only lure I have ever fish for pike with that they wouldn't hit. Not sure where mine went, but never threw them again. Would like to hear from anyone who has ever caught a fish on one.

Me too. Haven't heard of anything that eats tadpoles. Wonder why?

Thats what I thought when I bought them, years ago. I figured if Bass eat frogs, they would eat polly wogs too. I did catch Pickerel on a couple of them, they have tooth marks in them. I vaguely remember catching a small Bass on one, or maybe it was a Yellow Perch.

I was all excited when I saw dance do a show using them. I even did the routine of take that one bait and use it all day. Never ever got a bite with any of them. Like all of you I don't know what happened to them. I am not a bill dance fan after meeting him at a major tournament in Alabama.
