I'm fairly new to fishing, just really started last year. My son and I have been going out almost every day for a few hours to try and catch some bass. I've caught quite a few pickerel but so far zero bass, I also haven't seen anyone else on the ponds catching any. Since I'm new I'm excited to try fishing the bedding season but I'm thinking it's still too cold for the bass to really be moving and biting right now? We've tried shiners, texas rigs, crankbaits, jerkbaits and jigs but like I said, barely even a nibble.

I picked up a couple 2weeks ago at a northern Connecticut lake. Water was 54°-56°,warmer than I expected. Caught both on an unweighted Hum Dinger,Watermelon Green with Red flake. Got a 1.5pounder flipping a boatdock, and a 2.75pounder flipping a blowdown. Both in only 3or4 ft of water. My buddies young son caught a 2.2pounder at the same lake on a NedRig.
I'll be trying a lake a little further north, that holds Largemouth,Trout and Kokanee, on Saturday. I'll let y'all know how I make out Saturday evening. Good luck and Tight Lines.
Come Spring water temp. is critical, mid to high 50's is a good starting point.
