I have fished twice in the petaluma river this year. First time in January, 2nd time today.
Skunk 2 --- Me 0.
Beautiful day on the river today! Always a plus. My Neighbor and I hit the water together for the first time in a year. That in itself was great!
Tight lines to all!

We were using 1oz Rattletraps trolling at 2-3 mph. Launched in Petaluma about an hour before the high tide and dropped them as soon as depth permitted.
We went to the red barn just past Lakeville marina and back a couple of times and then went farther downriver.
we tried to keep 12 ft of water under us and had lines out to 180ft.
The depth finder marked a lot of fish but they weren't biting on us.
You remember how foggy it was when we were out in January. I couldn't see (or remember) the waypoints you used for navigation, so we kept to the outside of most turns.
Fished for about 3 1/2 hours. Hopefully we'll get out soon and get us some.

Hey buddy. You were doin the right thing except maybe pick the speed up to closer to 5mph.
The fish are in the river but for whatever reason they just don't want to bite. That's the same thing I've been findin out anyway.
Hopefully the bite will turn on and then we'll start catchin em.
The Pet River does seem to have a better bite on the falling/lower tide though.

We will go out earlier next time. When bait fishing, we always fished tho outgoing tide.
Thank You

Yep, for the Pet. that's the best I've found. Bout an hour or 2 after high tide when the water really starts to move out.
Same is true on the Napa.
